The Main Event!

Well, another historic day in the ducati league and especially in Bz-Incorporated history. But before we talk about the Main Event, let's get some other information out of the way. Today, Bz-Incorporated had another full day of matching! Beginning with three matches against Untamed (these will be reported separately by one of the players from those matches), Bz-Incorporated moved on to begin a series of matches against the relatively new team, with relatively old players, [SO].

Three matches against [SO] led to our Main Event, using a wide variety of players - SO fielded teams of between 2 and 3 players, using fooey, krisfooey and romeofiesfischlingsuesserliebchensterlein. Bz-Incorporated had a number of players on hand as well, including Bad Pritt, Bernie, the tank known as [dmp] formerly known as meacan formerly known as [dmp] (aka dmp dmp), jh^, essy and the newest member of Bz-Incorporated, Xell. Xell debuted his Bz-Incorporated in the match right before the Main Event (we'll call it #999). The maps were fun, hard and the opponents were terribly green. I think they were envious of Bz-Incorporated's growing list of records. Perhaps next time, they'll be the appropriate color of blushing red.

Finally, it was time for the Main Event...but we had a dilemma. Should we delay the Main Event until additional (and older) Bz-Incorporated members were available. Or should we play on, knowing that they would be part of more Bz-Incorporated history in the near future. Admirarch, one of the missing players, had already insisted previously that we NOT wait for the 1000th match. We had done that in a previous instance and ended up waiting a week before we actually held it.

[SO] went out and recruited an additional player for the occasion - the infamous dax. Now Bz-Incorporated could play 4 of its 6 players at one time! Yay. And so, the MAIN EVENT!

Today, in typical sporting fashion, after some "lesser" (in significance only) matches, Bz-Incorporated celebrated its 1000th match in style. Bad Pritt, Bernie, dmp dmp, jh^, SportChick and Xell played against dax (in his first official ducati match ever!), krisfooey, mistook my flay, and romfies. 6v4, you think? Well, no. Through mostly brilliant subbing, each Inc'er played 20 minutes.

The map had a set of blocks forming sort of chute on one side of each base, making for some crazy rico opportunities and some intense battles to retrieve the flags. With all the substitutions, it was hard to keep one person on hunt and it seemed a bit hectic, but was an incredibly fun match. The score was mostly SO until the last 5-10 minutes when Bz-Incorporated staged a comeback bid, tying the match at 4-4. The Sowers managed to cap another. Game on! With 30 seconds on the clock, an Incer had the envious flag less than a tanklength from Bzi's base and was brutally murdered on the spot. Then the mean dots staged a heroic attempt to save the envious flag. Meanwhile, Bzi also battled at the other end of the field to prevent another cap of its own flag. Time ran out on both teams, and Bz-Incorporated closed another chapter of history with a 4-5 moral victory!

The match put Bz-Incorporated at the top of the class (and for that matter all classes) in a number of categories. While it was not first to reach 1000 matches (T42 did it only a few days before in the GU league), it did it the fastest. (T42, formed on April 5, 2005 played its 1000th match in 518 days. Bz-Incorporated, formed on May 19, 2005, played its match in 480 days!). Bz-Incorporated played its first 500 matches in approximately 9 months. It played its next 500 in only 7. The 1000th match pushed Bz-Incorporated to a new activity record of 4.67 (which it promptly broke by playing its 1001st match).

Bz-Incorporated dedicates its 1000th match to all the Incers who have put so much time and effort into making Bz-Incorporated the fun, faithful team that it is: especially to Admirarch, Thonolan, catay, TheRedBaron, and all the members of Bz-Incorporated, past and present! Great job!

P.S. It looks like we need some new goals! The only one we still have to meet is 5.0 activity. And THAT isn't far away!

To get this far, BZI have had to work for it:

Did you know, that BZI have captured 3491 times? Or that some rude cowboy stole our flag 5193 times? Someone got 1702 spare flags. And we'll like them back, soon :)

All these captures what done in 856 30m games + 144 15m games. Thats "merely" 464 hours on matching. And multiply this by (at least) 4 to get the man hours dedicated to reach 1000 matches.
