BZ-Incorporated Revisited

As you know by know, the Bz Incorporated team was founded as a teaching team - taking a few talented players, recruiting newer players and learning how to work together as a team, increasing in skill and in team play. But how did that team start? Where has it been? Who was involved?

May 2005:
Bz-Incorporated's first logo In 2005, as a result of the big ME (mouse enhancement) controversy, several teams (The Barons, [}{]XaZaX, etc.) and players left the league. As a result, activity in the ducati league was down significantly. Bz-Incorporated was created by The Red Baron on May 19, 2005 in response to the issues going on in the league. The team was intended to be a teaching team - AND a team that would play any other, without exception. It was a long while before other teams started to see Bz-Incorporated as something other than a way to steal some points. The team began with The Red Baron, gramps, Apollo (all joining on May 19, the day the team was created). Apollo didn't play, and therefore, didn't stay long.

June 2005:
In early June, Tanx joined (and left) Bz-Incorporated. Then on June 23rd, 2005, Bz-Incorporated picked up Thonolan, who was soon to be its primary talent scout. Thonolan had been on the Non-Prophets, but the team was mostly inactive, so The Red Baron was able to coerce Thonolan away.

July 2005:
A couple of new players came (and went) - torococo and Mangix. The Red Baron was quite busy with "real life", so Thonolan started looking for good candidates to join the team. Then, on July 10th, Thonolan recruited GENZO to BZ-Incorporated. GENZO was, like Thonolan, addicted to the game and so many many matches ensued once he had joined Bz-Incorporated. Additionally, other great players (such as Blue Eyes) were kind enough to help give Bz-Incorporated's players tips and coaching, to help increase their level of play. Thonolan also picked up catay in late July. catay was possibly more addicted to BzFlag than the other players on Bz-Incorporated!

August 2005:
Thonolan managed to pick up one of his most famous recruits thus far - Admirarch. Between Admirarch, catay, GENZO and Thonolan, Bz-Incorporated was on its way!

September 2005:
Skit, formerly known as dot, joined Bz-Incorporated.

November 2005:
November saw some turnover for Bz-Incorporated. Skit left to join MTC, a new team started by Mikkel. Incidentally, SportChick left HoW to join that same team (after only 4 days on HoW). GENZO left Bz-Incorporated to fill the hole left in HoW by two departing players (both of whom went to MTC). At the end of November, both karlik25 (catay's dream mate) and lala (a/k/a LaydeeKilla) joined Bz-Incorporated.

December 2005:
In early December, Bz-Incorporated managed to recruit both That Smell and Sweating Bullets, two players it had desired for a long time. And then, the craziness began! If you ever hear The Red Baron say he is off to his "secret lab", run for your life!! December 17 saw the first of many upcoming name changes for Bz-Incorporated. On December 17th, the team was renamed (by that dastardly baron) "We Be Pirates!" The Red Baron had a history of writing short descriptions for each of his players on the team website. In honor of the new team name, all descriptions were rewritten with a pirate (and chauvenistic!) theme.

January 2006:
The Dukes and Duchesses of BzFlag logo The team remained Pirates until the very early morning (GMT) on January 6th. Later that same day, SportChick left MTC and soon became the second girl hired on to Bz-Incorporated. A week and a half later, DarthValou became the third. On January 26th, now having the dubious honor of the ducati team with the most girls (3!), the team was renamed "The Dukes and Duchesses of BzFlag". Some of the more experienced players on Bz-Incorporated started working on a teamplay wiki, which, as of this writing is still not complete.

February 2006:
In mid-February, Bz-Incorporated picked up a swiss player and brother of a well-known organizer of the 1v1 tournament, mr show. Bz-Incorporated also played its 500th match!

March 2006:
The team was yet again renamed. On March 8th, it became "Val's Impertinent Psychotic Penguins", in honor of our beloved DarthValou. But as if that wasn't enough. We were due in for 4 more name changes in the same month! On March 28th, the name was changed to "Wild Arabian Sheiks" but after protesting from the female portion of the team (and a few "objective" bystanders" the team was again renamed (on the same day) to "Catay's Renegades". The very next day, we saw two more name changes to "Catay's Crazy Renegades" and then to "Catay's Peculiar Renegades".

April 2006:
Bz-Incorporated's classic logo In early April, Sweating Bullets released a "feature length movie", initially titled "Catay Uncovered" but released as "O'Catay and the Grapes of Wrath". On April 13th, the team was again renamed - this time to "Catay's Irish Agents". Having had enough of the name changes, and completely tired of not even know WHAT team name we had (some had taken to using quite funny strings in their email, such as "TrB's Looney Brigade"), certain Bz-Incorporated players (to remain unnamed) enlisted the help of some outside sources and staged a coup. The Red Baron was (temporarily) unseated, DarthValou took the reigns & tried to bring some semblance of order and sanity to the team, the team was renamed to "Gaoled Absurd Outcast Lads", the team descriptions were completely rewritten and a series of forum posts and bzmails ensued, which include a post from the mother of one of those jailed and another post on some little known facts by W. Mark Felt (bonus points if you know who W. Mark Felt is). Ten days later, Bz-Incorporated was (finally) itself again, for the first time in over 3 months! Admirarch made a decision to choose school over Bzflag (what was he thinking?!) and began a 10-week break to focus on his studies.

May 2006:
May was a very difficult month in Bz-Incorporated's history. While the team should have been celebrating its one year anniversary, it was, instead, recovering from the departure of its beloved captain. The Barons were revived, and so, The Red Baron went back to HIS roots and his family. Thonolan initially took the reigns of Bz-Incorporated and then handed the team over to SportChick. Bernie (of GU jumping fame) joined Bz-Incorporated. DarthValou left. Admirarch, who was taking some time off to concentrate on school, rejoined. catay and karlik25 left to create a new team, Untamed. [dmp] left his long-time home, The Barbarians, and joined to help rebuild Bz-Incorporated. Thonolan left. KyleH, iwcylabumf and Tante Horst all joined. Bz-Incorporated had a new look and a lot of new talent.

June 2006:
Bz-Incorporated's new look jh^ was finally convinced to join a ducati team, and Bz-Incorporated was lucky enough to grab him. Bz-Incorporated got some new artwork that embraced SportChick's favorite saying ("meanie"). The new Bz-Incorporated began to gel, playing together as often as possible and by the end of June, had hit a 3.0 activity rating again.

July 2006:
July was a month of milestones. dapper_drake (a/k/a Thonolan) returned to his home, Bz-Incorporated. Bz-Incorporated played its 800th match (on July 18th) and its 500th loss (on July 16th) - and was proud of both milestones.

August 2006:
Bz-Incorporated set a goal of reaching its 1000th match by mid-September. It played its 900th match, began reporting its matches internally, created and started reporting matches on a blog and, on August 31st, reached an activity rating of 4.0.

September 2006:
Xell joins Bz-Incorporated (just in time). On September 10, Bz-Incorporated played its 1000th match! It also bettered its own high activity record of 4.61, pushing to 4.71 (pushing even further away from Forest Force's GU league record of 4.09). At last check, Bz-Incorporated's activity was at 4.78! Bz-Incorporated also broke its own highest ELO record, reaching 1458 on September 1st.
